Traditions and habits in Spain

All countries have their own customs. As a foreigner you will probably excused if you accidently break the “rules”, and you may not be invited back again.

ü  Appointments in Spain: if you have an appointment with a Spanish  person don´t expect them to arrive on time, they can be 15 minutes late at least.
ü  “Que aproveche”: Spanish people say “ good appetite” before starting a meal, you should say “gracias” and smile. Also if you are offered a glass of wine, you should say ¡salud! Before having a drink.
ü  Kissing in Spain: when meeting acquaintances, Spanish people kiss each other, usually on both cheeks, sometimes if it is a close friend maybe just one cheek. Generraly it´s just a delicate brushing of the cheeks and not an actual kiss.
ü  “Siesta time”: la siesta is one of the best moment of the day. The traditional siesta is a battle for survival, it isn´t advisable to telepohone between the siesta hours (2 to 5 pm)
most Spanish will choose to sleep within these hours. If you have to call between these teams, it´s polite to apologise for disturbing.

To end To conclude, I would like to introduce you to a video where a girl explains some of the sterotypes about Spain:
